A salty day

Again, today wasn't super eventful. We got a bus from Dalat to Mui Ne which took around 4 hours. I got talking to a lovely couple who have been travelling for 9 months already! I think it may have been their honeymoon. But they told me about their time in South America and now I really want to go. I'm hoping maybe my mother and sister will meet me in Peru and do the Inca trail with me (start saving guys). But if anyone fancies a trip round South America in a couple of years, let me know.

We arrived at our hostel which is right by the sea. In fact, all of the hotels and hostels are on the same street which is half way between Mui Ne and Phan Thiet. It seems strange that they've created a whole extra town mainly for all the tourists. It's not the nicest. But after dumping our bags we found a beach. Unfortunately, all the sun beds were for the resorts and there was no shade on the beach (Matt burns far too easily). We walked for around half an hour up the beach and then turned back. We bought a drink at one resort (super expensive drink) so we could sit on their sunloungers and both of us had a nice little nap (my nap lasted an hour). But when I woke up it had turned a bit cooler so I decided it was a great idea to go in the sea. The water was super warm so it was like getting in a luke warm bath. Matt joined me and we ended up spending the next two hours playing silly games with a ball and swimming in the sea. At least the beach was nice and it was pretty deserted until around 5pm when all the Vietnamese came out.

After a quick change we went for tea. We'd originally tried to find a restaurant that was in our guide book but it wasn't where it was meant to be so we settled for another that looked a little busy. I chose braised pork in a clay pot with steamed rice. It was similar to one of the dishes we made at our cooking class but it had quite a bit more salt. I guess I need to keep up my salt intake what with all the sweating I do. I enjoyed my meal though. I also had a passion fruit juice which was obviously really good. Anything with passion fruit tastes amazing. It's up there with mango as my favourite fruit.

On our walk back we stopped for an ice cream. The salted peanut butter immediately caught my eye. I don't really know where the salt came in as peanut butter is already salty but it was delicious. Anything with peanut butter is delicious. Maybe I've had too much salt today though. The salt in the sea must have been absorbed into my skin as well.
